About me
Hi, thanks for reading. My name's Adam, I am currently working as a Digital Nomad handling a small number of clients with particular technical requirements revolving around PHP coding and maintainence, MySQL databases, server admin and front end development. I consider myself a full stack developer with around 25 years experience, mostly working on a freelance basis but also including several years as Director of Diligence Digital, a small web design agency in Hastings, Sussex.
I live full time in a motorhome and travel around the UK and Europe with my cat, Tuna. This lifestyle and the minimal costs involved mean I can select my clients carefully, with an eye to developing long term working relationships for mutual benefit. My longest term client has been with me now for around 20 years. While my lifestyle means I am not guaranteed to be available during normal office hours it does give me a lot of flexibility when it comes to planning projects. With a small number of clients I can allocate all the time I need to any given project without needing to balance multiple jobs - whereas running a business often just felt like spinning plates and never having time to focus properly on any one thing, a feeling I'm sure many will recognise!
About the blog
I originally developed this vanlife blog as part of a learning process for a framework I wanted to start using. Developing it and writing content has gradually become more of a hobby in its own right and while I have no illusions of generating a huge readership it is very useful to me for developing my own thoughts and interests as well as keeping up to date with modern development methods and practices. I have prioritised site speed and usability with most pages getting speed, SEO & accessibility scores of over 90% on Googles tests. Design is not my forte so I have kept things simple on that front, making the content and images the main feature.
