Rescuing my 25-year-old Marin from a garden shed and riding Bedgebury on a wet March day reminded me why I bought the thing in the first place, and got me thinking about the organisation that built the trails. Forestry England are easy to love as a cyclist and harder to defend as an environmentalist: their legal mandate is timber but forests are more than just wood.
