The hat of shame!

Tuna's a pretty great vanlife cat really, we've been doing this 5 years now and he's generally chilled out, happy to just lie in the sun and look out the window all day and sleep all night. However this Halloween something seemed to stress him out, some might say spook him, and he ended up pissing in my bed while I was in it! Now I'm sure in a house this is an unpleasant enough experience but in a motorhome it is cause for pure panic! 

From a sleepy blissful ignorance to full action stations in seconds, we immediately embarked on a 4am tour of the local garage forecourts, checking out the ever semi-reliable revolution laundry machines and eventually finding a suitable combination of working washing machines at one site and a working dryer at another 10 minutes down the road. Multiple washes, lots of swearing, a new set of sheets and a rather awkward turn over of the mattress later and we finally got something resembling an odour free bed. Needless to say for the rest of the week I slept in a permanent state of semi-awakeness, keeping an ear out for Tuna's less than dainty clumping about the place.

A quick trip to the vet and more careful monitoring of his mood seems to have helped move things back to normal. The lesson I've learned is not to take Tuna's wellbeing for granted, an unhappy cat is not a good travelling companion!
